Recruitment Drive for Asia-Pacific Evergreen Scouts (APES)

Dear Colleagues,

Greetings!

As you may recall, the Asia-Pacific Evergreen Scouts, in short APES, was formed and launched during the 21st APR Scout Conference in Brunei in December 2004 with the major objective of friendship and solidarity amongst leaders in the Asia-Pacific Region, as referred to in our previous communication dated 26 January 2005.

To date, we have 68 members with a great potential to expand and increase.

The detailed objectives of APES are:

- To strengthen solidarity and friendship through continued relationship amongst former and present members of the APR Scout Committee and sub-committees.

- To support and complement the works of the committees in the Region

- To organize regular activities and/or projects so as to foster fellowship amongst members and their families and guests

We would like to request, on behalf of the APES Management Committee, to invite Scout leaders of good standing who have served or are serving the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committees or Sub Committees, present and past Chief Commissioners and International Commissioners, Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Foundation Members and people who support Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Movement to join the APES.

There are four categories of membership which are determined according to the membership fees and not according to rank, appointments, length of service or age.

Life members / Platinum: US$ 200.00
Term members (10 years) / Gold: US$ 150.00
Term members (05 years) / Silver: US$ 100.00
Temporary members (01 year) / Bronze : US$ 30.00

A unique membership badge will be given to members and APES participating in activities / programme such as fellowship events, visits to national events on invitation, very often will get to enjoy the hospitality of the host country.

Existing members may also like to take the opportunity to upgrade their membership to the next higher category by paying the differences of membership fees.

For detailed information attached is the APES Guidelines and the membership form for your reference. Application of membership together with payment should be sent to the regional office.

This is also to confirm that the APES Management Committee will be organizing an APES gathering in Malaysia on 29 October 2009 in conjunction with the 23rd Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Conference. More details will be disclosed in time to come.
